2008 TEAM INFO

Some athletes only dream of success: others wake up and make it happen!

Physicals (done after November 15th , 2007) and Parent permission forms, must be turned in to get in the water.

August 11th– practice begins at Hurlburt Field Pool

Practices are not optional- they are the teams key to success.

This is a no-cut team, except for discipline problems or unexcused absences from practice or meets.

Your actions at practice and at all swim team functions will reflect positively on you, the team and Fort Walton Beach High School. Appropriate actions are determined by the coaches. When in doubt- don't do it!

A team roster will be available by the 2nd week of practice – please make sure we have your info sheet and if there are any changes you notify Coach Braseth ASAP.

Team uniforms- will be ordered and paid for at Dragon Sports.  Swimmers are responsible for purchasing team suits and goggles. These must be ordered by August 22nd

Team apparel- team caps will be provided before the first meet. Team t-shirts will be done and issued after the sponsor drive. Team warm-ups will be issued as soon as possible. Any returning swimmer who has outgrown their warm-ups may order new ones at their own expense. First year swimmers who do not complete the season must reimburse the team for the warm-ups (they may not be returned). Team polo shirts will be issued and can be purchased if you would like to own it or it must be returned at the end of the season. Any swimmer not participating in team fundraisers will be required to reimburse the team the cost of team apparel.

Team members will wear one of the following outfits to and from the meets as announced at practice before the meet

Travel Attire A (usually worn prior to issuance of team gear) Solid shorts, pants or skirt with a red white or blue (Viking preferred) shirt.

Travel Attire B: Team t-shirt and solid colored bottom

Travel Attire C: Team t-shirt and team warm-ups

Travel Attire D: Team polo and khaki bottoms (usually the Championship team for Regionals and States)

Team members are to wear shirts tucked in, belts on, and pants or shorts pulled up! You are representing your School, Parents and Coaches but most importantly your team!

Home meets @ Parkwood Pool, you will have transportation to the meet but must get a ride home from Parkwood.

Away meets, we will leave from and return to FWBHS. You must travel to and from the meets with the team and you will stay with the team at all times during the meet.

Students are not allowed to ride with other students from practice or to or from meets without prior written permission on file with Coach Daso

Any swimmer missing a combination of 10 excused and unexcused absences will be required by the school to pass a Beginning Swimmers Written Test.

Attendance will be turned into school on a daily basis. If you are attending school that day, you must attend practice. If you are too sick to go to school, please stay home from practice also.

If you are injured during the season, you must still come to practice and meets to complete the season; there are many things you can do to assist the team!

Fundraisers planned for this season include a team sponsor drive and a swim lap –a –thon. Participation in these will support the team and give you free team apparel when you complete the season. Other than participation in these and purchasing your uniform, there are no fees on the swim team.

Parents, we will need you to volunteer to help run our home meets.

We will try to send home a newsletter like last year or if our Website is posted, it will be on there.

As the season progresses, we will give out more info, when we get it. If you have any questions or concerns, please contact one of us.

We look forward to a fun and successful year- As was shown last year Team really does stand for Together Each Achieves More- you all are an important key to the teams success.
